Friends of Potawatomi State Park
• Organize, promote, and facilitate the annual Run Wild event (this year on October 1, 2011)
• From many Locations and Vocations
• Love the Park
• Want to help preserve its unique features and make it an ever-improving place to visit.
• Volunteer their time and talents to maintain the park facilities
• Provide funding for purchase of needed equipment
• Support programs that encourage visitors to fully enjoy the many things Potawatomi Park has to offer.

stage backdrop and
purchased a sound system

Leopold Benches
Provided funding and labor
for construction of more
Aldo Leopold Benches
for the Park
Spring Clean Up
Clean campsites each spring
using equipment purchased
by the Friends group

Naturalist Program
Provided funding and support
for the Park naturalist program.
Provide a variety of programs for
summer camping season.
Park staff, DNR naturalists
and Friends group assist program.
Candlelight Ski
Organize and provide volunteers
for February candlelight ski event.
A blazing fire, hot cider, cookies,
& pretzels are provided also.

Produced several times a year
to keep members informed and educated

Run Wild
Organized in 1995, the newly-formed group reinstated the popular Run Wild event held in the Park. Cuts in funding and DNR staff had caused the cancellation of what would have been the 8th annual “Run Wild.” For more information, please check out the Potawatomi Park Pals Newsletter from Fall 2008 .
Ski Trails
Purchased additional grooming equipment.
Bachler renovator, track setter, and
compaction drag.
Assist park staff in maintaining ski trails.
